Mike Visceglia is like family to me. He has been with me through every touring band I've ever had, through all the different musical changes I have experimented with, and remained the same professional, inspired, hard-working musician throughout all of it. At this point I am performing with just the essentials; myself, my guitar, and Mike, and I get to hear his virtuosity every time we perform. On some songs he plays the bass as a main instrument like a guitar, and the audience loves it. He has risen to every challenge I have ever thrown him, and that is no easy thing. He is also a good buddy with a great sense of humor. So don't hire him for too long because I need him.

Mike is a great guy and a great bass player. He can also blow bubbles off the tip of his tongue which comes in handy when you're on long bus drives. He's a real road warrior!

Shawn Colvin

Mike is a musician whose prowess extends past his playing into the role of producer and way beyond. His thoughtful, patient & often cunning bass style always supports and even enhances the music, because he is FOR the music.

Mike is one of the most versatile and musical bassists that I know. Great sound, great parts. Listen and you'll see that he adds a lot more than just bass to any situation.

There's a gothic, cinematic quality to the well-written art-rock songs of this New York band, which features Mary Fahl's left-of-Annie Lennox vocals. Applying the same melodic touch he gave to Suzanne Vega's "Luka," Gotham vet Visceglia weaves massive, Levin-like lines on "Sunday Morning Yellow Sky" and provides the clever sub-hook on "Johnny."

Mike is the consummate musician, but if he, like, has to actually move on stage or something....someone's gonna get hurt.

We don't call him "Mr. Animation" for nothing.
But seriously, Mike's wardrobe is the last of Robert Hall's Boy's Line...he knows a tailor.

Michael Visceglia is a lousy bass player. He cares about melody, he cares about harmony, he doesn't use the damn frets and he pays attention to what you're singing about. Plus he requires a decent cup of coffee and likes to talk about the great philosophers. Basically, he's a poet of vibrations. I'd only use him again if I wanted someone who could translate the spirit of every song into that low, visceral register where the body listens. Otherwise, I'd find a bass player.

Michael Visceglia is not only one of my favorite bass players, he is also one of my favorite people, and all the humor, charm, intelligence and integrity of his personality are naturally reflected in his playing. Consequently, he is always a joy to play music with. During the time I've known him, I've had the privilege of playing over 100 shows with Michael, and he is always on, always tasteful, always professional, and always very, very musical. His playing seems organic and natural to him, and he seems to instinctively know just the right part to play, whether he's playing a song for the first time or the one-hundredth time.

You can be on tour for a year, playing the same songs, and he has a gift for making it sound fresh every time.
